Mapping Android folder to Windows 7/8 drive

The following instructions are for connecting a Windows 7/8 computer to your BestDAV WebDAV Server and for assigning a drive letter on your PC to BestDAV WebDAV Server.

How to fix Slow WebDAV Performance in Windows 7 and 8:

  1. In Internet Explorer, open the Tools menu, then click Internet Options.
  2. Select the Connections tab.
  3. Click the LAN Settings button.
  4. Uncheck the "Automatically detect settings" box.

The following instructions are for Windows 7 and up. We also provide instructions for Windows XP and Vista.

We are using a non secure URL in the following example e.g. a URL that starts with http://. You can use a secure URL if you have enabled SSL in BestDAV WebDAV Server. When SSL is enabled, input the URL that start with https://.



Open the Windows "Map Network Drive" dialog as follows:

  1. Click the Windows Start button
  2. Right-click Computer
  3. Click Map Network Drive...



Input the URL of the folder in the BestDAV WebDAV Server.

  1. Input the URL like "http://192.168.41.7:8080/" into the Windows "Map Network Drive" dialog. Where 192.168.41.7 is the IP address of android device, 8080 is the port number of the WebDAV server.
  2. Optionally click "Reconnect at logon" if you want the drive to automatically reconnect when your restart your computer.
  3. Check "Connect using different credentials" option, because the account is different from the Windows account.
  4. Click the Finish button



A Windows Security Dialog will appear after some time.

  1. Enter your username and password of BestDAV WebDAV Server. The default setting is: username=admin, password=admin
  2. Click OK
